Less is More

Tally Services recently had a client in Fort Collins, Colorado who was referred to us by a CPA. The client needed help with the day to day bookkeeping and accounting services. The business owner originally wanted us to help input information into QuickBooks and handle paying bills. After a short amount of time, the Tally team learned through asking appropriate questions regarding the business owner's desired outcome, we realized his system had duplications and he was overdoing what he needed. Tally Services worked to adjust the the process flows of the point of sale and the business's financial software. We reduced our time by 90%! Obviously, this left the client very happy. A few people involved expressed that maybe we were disappointed that we had less work…not at all! It felt great to problem solve leave the business in a better position. We felt very successful!

Think Outside the Box

Sometimes business owners set systems up and forget to recheck the processes as business evolves… owners get a bit complacent and forget to think outside the box for new solutions. Tally Services recently had a client really struggling with cash flow. After Tally created a cash flow statement and worked to understand their processes, we realized that renegotiations with vendors regarding their terms would do significant things for our client's cash flow. It would allow for more time before they had to pay their bills, thus resulting in more time to hold on to their cash. We worked with the client to contact vendors and negotiate terms that worked well for the business. The end result was a smoother flow of cash and much less of a struggle week-to-week. Don’t forget to think outside of the box from time to time. Revisit business processes, including vendor terms, to make sure they still meet your needs.
