Important Tax Deadlines for Small Business Owners

As a small business owner, you likely already know there are many tax deadlines throughout the year that require you to submit forms and payments on time – lest you face late fees and other penalties. However, keeping track of the dates that pertain to your business can be a challenge, on top of running the day-to-day operation. In this Tally Services blog, we’ll cover the most important tax deadlines for small business owners for 2019 to help you get organized and submit your forms and payments on time.

Major Tax Deadlines for Small Business Owners

  • January 31, 2019 - Deadline for sending out W-2 forms to employees

  • February 15, 2019 - Deadline for sending out all 1099 forms to independent contractors who worked for your business during the calendar year of 2018.

  • March 15, 2019 - If your business is set up as an S Corp or partnership, March 15th is your tax return deadline using Form 1102S (S Corp) or Form 1065 (partnerships). If your taxes are not complete by this date, you can file for a six-month extension, but you still must pay your estimated tax liability by March 15.

  • April 15, 2019 - This is the deadline to file your C corporation tax returns, using Form 1120. Please note: If your business makes estimated quarterly tax payments, your 2019 first quarterly payment is also due on April 15. You can file for a six-month extension on your corporate taxes, but your estimated payment will still be due on April 15.

  • April 15, 2019 - If your business makes estimated quarterly tax payments, the first quarterly payment of 2019 is due today.

  • June 17, 2019 - If your business makes estimated quarterly tax payments, the second quarterly payment of 2019 is due today.

  • September 16, 2019 - If your business makes estimated quarterly tax payments, the third quarterly payment of 2019 is due today.

  • September 16, 2019 - If your S Corp business filed for a six-month extension, your completed tax return is due today.

  • October 15, 2019 - If you filed for an extension for your corporate taxes, your C corporation tax return is due today.

  • December 16, 2019 - If your business makes estimated quarterly tax payments, the fourth quarterly payment of 2019 is due today.
